Raven Appeared To Be Talking About A 2008 Post From Perez Hilton
At one point during the conversation, Raven shared, “It’s interesting. When you are in the public eye and when you are dressing or when you play a character, you are just open to critique from everyone and they mama, no matter what.”
The former Disney star also touched on one particularly hurtful comment that she admitted stays with her to this day. She shared, “I got called a poodle. My hair was so curly, Perez Hilton called me a poodle.”
Initially in disbelief, Scannell noted that Perez, who rose to fame as a celebrity blogger, was “probably at the height of his career” when he made the comment. Raven noted, “It was. But it was also kind of racist.”
Miranda noted that Perez could be “mean” at this point in his career. However, she also felt that he had since apologized for much of his behavior during this time.
However, Raven herself noted that Perez “never apologized to me.” Feeling he kick-started a culture of mean-spirited online gossip, she felt, “We need an apology, Perez.”
Raven appeared to be referencing a 2008 blog post from Perez. At the time, he wrote, “A Poodle Died On Her Head,” which read, “There is no excuse for that hair! Come on, girl. You must have some Disney money in the bank. Can’t you afford better hair???”
