Raygan Kirk of Ste. Anne, Manitoba recorded her first career Professional Women’s Hockey League shutout on Sunday. She accomplished the feat in a 2-0 Toronto Sceptres win over the Seattle Torrent from the Coca-Cola Coliseum in Toronto, Ontario.
Kirk made 32 saves overall. She made seven saves in the first period, 12 saves in the second period and 13 saves in the third period.
The game-winning goal for the Sceptres was an all-Canadian goal. It was scored by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Blayre Turnbull of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Claire Dalton of Etobicoke, Ontario and Canadian Olympic gold medalist Renata Fast of Hamilton, Ontario had the assists. The goal was scored at exactly the four minute mark of the first period. Turnbull and Fast won the gold medal for Canada at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.
For the season, Kirk has a record of five wins, five regulation losses, and five losses in extra time and one shutout. She has a goals against average of 2.18 and a save percentage of .925.
With the win, the Sceptres improve to a record of eight wins, eight regulation losses and five losses in extra time. They have 28 points and are tied for fourth place with the Ottawa Charge in the PWHL standings.
