Diogo Dalot’s deftly-taken first league goal since May 2024 broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, collecting a shot from Casemiro with a composed touch and finish inside the box.

United, who struck a post through Bruno Fernandes during the first half, rose to eighth, while their opponents are a point behind fourth-bottom Leeds United, who beat Chelsea 3-1 at home on Wednesday.

United are next in action away to Wolves on Monday (20:00 GMT), a day after West Ham visit Brighton & Hove Albion (14:00).

Man United vs West Ham: Magassa goal decisive
A £17.3 million signing from Monaco in August, France Under-21 defender or midfielder Magassa scored a memorable first Premier League goal by firing in after Noussair Mazraoui brilliantly cleared Jarrod Bowen’s header from substitute Andy Irving’s corner off the line.
“The feeling is amazing, but we played well as a team – all fighting for all,” said 22-year-old Magassa, speaking to Sky Sports.
“It’s a very good and important point for the team. I want to do my best for the players, the coach and the fans.”
In a contest containing few major chances, Bruno Fernandes’ effort against the woodwork came after Aaron Wan-Bissaka cleared Joshua Zirkzee’s shot off the line as part of an impressive display by the former United full-back.
“Not many people really pick me up in the air,” said Bowen. “I’m 5ft 9in or something like that, so I’m not the tallest, but I always fancy myself in the air.
“I made that run, got that flick and thought I’d scored. I was gutted to see that I hadn’t.
“In training every day, [Magassa] comes in with a smile on his face. He’s shown his quality. He’s still young and he’s come to a new country, new teammates and new league.
“For me and the team, it’s good to support him, put an arm around him and help him when we need to.”
