Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp has been in the battle of her life. She had stage 2 melanoma, which metastasized to her lungs and her brain. Fortunately, she revealed that she was cancer-free, but now, the mother of three has been hospitalized again. Keep reading for more details as to what is going on with her health now.
Teddi Mellencamp Back In Hospital
When Teddi Mellencamp was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2022, she made it clear to her followers to get checked. The former RHOBH star ended up with a giant scar on her back from being cut into so many times after her diagnosis. Unfortunately, it had metastasized to her brain, and she underwent emergency brain surgery. Her battle was not over there, and it was a terrifying several months. Teddi and her husband, Edwin Arroyave, had split, but they shared three children, Cruz, Slate, and Dove. Not knowing what would happen was a nightmare, but Teddi was and is a fighter.
Although she is now cancer-free, the podcaster revealed that she landed back in the emergency room. Teddi woke up to a body full of sores and had no idea what had happened. Initially, she believed that she had the flu, but the Hilton Head Island, South Carolina native quickly realized something more was going on.
The sores “hurt and they burned,” as she shared on her Two T’s in a Pod podcast, which she co-hosts with Tamra Judge. Teddi soon headed to urgent care and wanted to believe she was having an allergic reaction, but they sent her to the ER. She was having a reaction to a medication, which triggered Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
The one thing about Stevens-Johnson syndrome is that it is both rare and can be life-threatening. Per the Mayo Clinic, it is “a medical emergency that usually requires hospitalization.” Since Teddi Mellencamp had cancer, she had a higher probability of getting it. Luckily, meds were able to help heal the former RHOBH, and she could be released from the hospital.
Happy She’s Okay
When Teddi Mellencamp shared her story on the podcast, friends and fans were happy to hear that she was doing much better. However, they were devastated to learn what she had gone through. One member of the Bravoverse was just happy it was caught and resolved in a timely manner:
