Toronto-based national carrier Rogers shared a list of apps that now work with Rogers Satellite.
These apps allow you to use them over satellite, but you may have a different experience than when using a cellular network. Rogers says that apps that are designed for low-bandwidth conditions are likely to offer the best experience.
Rogers also says that the list of apps is growing as developers continue to work on their apps over satellite.
Being able to use these apps over satellite means that when you’re off the grid, you’ll still be able to access these apps, which is great for an emergency.
Additionally, app availability may also vary for iOS and Android.
Android apps include:
- Accuweather
- CalTopo
- Google Maps
- X
iOS apps include:
- Accuweather
- CalTopo
- X
Rogers satellite testers get the service for free until December. Rogers’ website notes that trial participants who aren’t on a Rogers Ultimate plan will automatically be charged for the Rogers Satellite service once the beta ends. Rogers Satellite will cost $15/mo, but beta users will get a $5 discount for the first 12 months.
