It has been fifty days since Today Show co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, 84, went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona. It is believed to have been an abduction, and at this point, everyone is simply holding on to hope. Ransom notes have been sent, arrests have been made, but there is still nothing solid. Now, in her first interview, Savannah is opening up about what she has been through and where she stands today. Keep reading for more details.
Savannah Is Sleepless Over Mom’s ‘Terror’
When Nancy Guthrie did not show up for a church commitment on February 1st, it did not sit right. Therefore, her family was alerted, and they proceeded to come by her home in Arizona. After searching for Nancy, they called the authorities. That was when she was declared missing, and it became a crime scene. Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie had just returned from having vocal cord surgery when she had to exit again to be with her family. This was heartbreaking as Savannah and her two siblings pleaded for Nancy’s safe return.
It seemed like a dead-end street, even with video footage from the doorbell camera. All Savannah could do was hold on to faith, and she is soon returning to her job at NBC. That being said, she is sitting down with her close friend and temporary replacement, Hoda Kotb. This is her first interview, and she has gotten extremely candid regarding her mother’s disappearance. Admittedly, she cannot sleep at night, thinking about what Nancy, 84, went through during the abduction:
“And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night, every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought. And I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”
Additionally, she shared the “agony” that her whole family is in every day, knowing that her mother is still out there. All that they want is someone to step up and do the “right thing.” However, that seems and feels so impossible after fifty days of waiting and wishing. A small portion of the interview with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb was shown on March 25th. The rest will air on March 26th and 27th.

A Heartbreaking Video
Watching Savannah Guthrie be so vulnerable has been heartbreaking to see. When she and her siblings, Annie and Camron, came out pleading for their mom to come home, hearts were shattered. Now, to have her sit down with Hoda Kotb and relive the trauma is next level. Yet, as Savannah stated, she will not hide herself. She wants to be seen, and it seems that she wants the abductor to know what they have done. Immediately, Today Show viewers chimed in with love:
- So so so sad. Have been with this from day 1. Praying for answers for Savannah and her family. Faith is everything. Mercy.
- Our Hearts goes out to The Guthrie families
- Just unimaginable. Prayers to the family.
Hopefully, this case can be solved at some point, just to give Savannah Guthrie and her family closure. It truly is unthinkable and beyond devastating.
