The latest trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants has been released online. The film, based on the TV series created by Stephen Hillenburg, follows SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom friends as they set sail in their biggest, all-new, can’t miss cinematic event ever!
Desperate to be a big guy, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman – a mysterious swashbuckling ghost pirate – on a seafaring comedy-adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the deep sea, where no Sponge has gone before. The cast includes Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, George Lopez, Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, with Regina Hall and Mark Hamill. It will be directed by Derek Drymon, who has been involved in SpongeBob SquarePants since it was first on air in the late 90s. It will be executive-produced by Marc Ceccarelli, Vincent Waller, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, and the screenplay will be written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman.
The film will be the fourth theatrical film based on the series, following 2020’s Sponge On The Run, 2015’s Sponge Out of Water, and the beloved original The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004). There have also been two spin-off movies, one following Sandy Cheeks and one following Plankton (which famously got leaked online in full before its release). The theatrical releases have so far made $475million from a combined budget of around $164 million.
