Jarvis Butts, the man who was recently sentenced in connection with the death of 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris in Detroit, has reportedly been found dead in prison.

Jarvis Butts, Man Recently Sentenced For Death Of 13-Year-Old Na’Ziyah Harris, Found Dead In Prison
According to WXYZ Detroit, Jarvis Butts was discovered deceased at the Michigan Department of Corrections facility on the morning of Thursday, March 26. Furthermore, MDOC staff reportedly attempted life-saving methods on Butts. Ultimately, his passing is presently being reported as a suicide.

More Details On The Death Of 13-Year-Old Na’Ziyah Harris & Jarvis Butts’ Recent Sentencing
As The Shade Room previously reported, Na’Ziyah Harris disappeared after getting off a school bus in January 2024. Per WXYZ Detroit, Butts was believed to have been dating Harris’ aunt, and allegedly killed the 13-year-old because she became pregnant with his child.
In January, Skilla Baby offered to cover the costs of the 13-year-old’s funeral arrangements. This, although her body was never found.
Per ClickOnDetroit, in February, Butts pleaded guilty to charges in multiple sexual assault cases, including the second-degree murder of the 13-year-old. On March 12, he was sentenced to 35-60 years in prison. This, in addition to 10-15 years for the other sexual assault cases, which were set to be served concurrently. Butts was expected to be released from prison in or after 2059.
