Sherri Shepherd Talked About The Grudge During A Recent Episode Of Her Talk Show
Sherri Shepherd is known for a variety of shows. For many, she is arguably best known for appearing as a co-host on The View and her daily syndicated talk show, Sherri.
During a recent episode of her talk show, Shepherd opened up about her time on another series. During the conversation, she also discussed actress Melissa Gilbert.
Both Shepherd and Gilbert had competed on Dancing With the Stars during Season 14. However, Shepherd ended up facing an early elimination, being the third eliminated, with Gilbert being eliminated in eighth place.
While speaking with her studio audience during a recent episode of her talk show, Shepherd discussed Lauren Jauregui’s elimination from the show. She then discussed her own time on the show, sharing, “I don’t know how I went home before Melissa Gilbert from Little House on the Prairie. I’m telling you; I still can’t let this one go.”
“Let me tell you what happened. Melissa Gilbert — I don’t know what dance she was doing. Her partner was Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Melissa fell and she hit her head against Maks’ leg, allegedly, and so she went to the doggone hospital but I got voted off. I kept going, ‘How did she beat me from the ICU?!’”
As noted by Entertainment Weekly, Gilbert had to sit out Week 4 of the competition series back in 2012. During the previous week, Gilbert smashed her head against Chmerkovskiy’s leg while spinning her. She finished the dance but later had to be rushed to the hospital after dealing with dizziness.
Shepherd Admitted What Happened Impacted A Certain Vote Of Hers Concerning Melissa Gilbert
At the time of her elimination, Shepherd shared she was grateful for the opportunity. However, she admitted that what happened still soured her attitude towards Gilbert. She shared, “When she ran for the president of the Screen Actors Guild for the actors, I didn’t vote. I didn’t vote for Melissa. She even called me, she said, ‘Sherri, can I count on your vote?’ I said, ‘Melissa, did you count on my vote on Dancing With the Stars?’
However, Shepherd assured that she has learned to move past these feelings since then. She shared words of support towards Gilbert, noting, “Melissa, I’m good with you now. You’re lucky and really sweet, and if you run again for president, you’ve got my vote, girl.”
For many, Gilbert is best known for starring as Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little House on the Prairie. In 2025, she also appeared as Georgie McGill on When Calls the Heart.
