The View Hosts Reflect On Early Careers
During Friday’s episode of The View, Joy Behar dropped an interesting fact about this weekend’s Oscars. She revealed that three female nominees got their start in reality television. Jessie Buckley was on the BBC’s I’d Do Anything. She’s up for Best Actress for her role in Hamlet.
Teyana Taylor, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for One Battle After Another, appeared on MTV’s My Super Sweet 16).
Emma Stone received two 2026 Oscar nominations for the film Bugonia. She’s up for Best Actress and Best Picture as a producer. Emma Stone previously won Best Actress in 2017 and 2024. She was a contestant on VH1’s In Search of the New Partridge Family when she was 15.
They made it from reality TV all the way to the Oscars. Joy Behar then asked her co-hosts to share their first big break. Sunny Hostin said that the highlight of her early career was serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney.
Joy Behar shared a clip of one of her first acting roles in the short-lived 1988 sitcom Baby Boom. Sara Haines looked back on getting into NBC’s Page Program, which started her career in television. But guest host Sheryl Underwood’s story shocked the panel.

Sheryl Underwood Wouldn’t Have A Job Without Joy Behar
Sheryl Underwood is between jobs right now. She co-hosted CBS’s The Talk for over a decade. It was canceled in 2024 to make room for the network’s new soap opera, Beyond the Gates.
The veteran talk show host easily stepped in on ABC’s The View as one of the guest co-hosts during Alyssa Farah Griffin’s maternity leave. Sheryl Underwood revealed that she wouldn’t be where she is now if it weren’t for Joy Behar. One of Sheryl Underwood’s early gigs was hosting a game show. However, she then appeared on Joy Behar’s Comedy Corner segment in 2008.
She told The View hosts that she believes the Comedy Corner appearance led to her booking The Talk, crediting Joy Behar with her career.
