Netflix has dropped the official trailer for Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, the upcoming “atmospheric horror series” focusing on an ill-fated wedding between stars Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones and the Six) and Adam DiMarco (The White Lotus), created by showrunner Haley Z. Boston.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen also features an additional cast of Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, Gus Birney, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ted Levine, and Sawyer Fraser.
Executive producers on the show include the head and director Weronika Tofilska, alongside Hilary Leavitt, Matt Duffer, Ross Duffer for Upside Down Productions, and Andrea Sperling. Axelle Carolyn and Lisa Brühlmann also have directing credits.
Synopsis:
“If Carrie is horror’s version of a girl becoming a woman, and Rosemary’s Baby is the horrific version of a woman becoming a mother, SOMETHING VERY BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN is horror’s take on a woman becoming a wife. Rachel is getting married in five days… Together with her fiancé, Nicky, she embarks on a road trip to his family’s vacation home, secluded in a snowy forest, for the intimate wedding ceremony of their dreams.”
“Which really would be so lovely, except… prone to superstition and paranoia, Rachel can’t shake the relentless feeling that something bad is going to happen. Her foreboding doubts, coupled with a series of eerie coincidences and dreadful surprises, force her to ask the question: What makes two people soulmates? And worse — what could be scarier than lifelong commitment to the wrong person?”
Speaking to TUDUM about her vision for the show and her “love for horror” as it “allows you to explore taboo feelings and take all of these fears and give them some bite”, creator Boston shared: “The week leading up to a wedding is such a ripe comparison to walking the plank. You’re marching toward your death if it’s the wrong choice.”
Boston also has credits for 2021’s squeamish Brand New Cherry Flavour and Guillermo del Toro’s 2022 Cabinet of Curiosities.
Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen will be released on Netflix on March 26th.
