After a series of successive storms to see in 2026, the worst of the weather may now have passed in Spain, according to the country’s national weather agency.
After a month of successive storms lashed Spain with heavy rain and wind, meteorological forecasts suggest that the worst of the weather has now passed.
Experts say this Sunday marked the end of over a month of successive storms which saw storms Marta, Leonardo, Goretti, Ingrid, and Oriana batter almost all areas of the country, causing flooding across Andalusia and other parts of the country.
According to the state weather agency, Aemet, so-called serious weather events will decrease from Monday, although orange and yellow warnings will remain in place in some areas that may still be affected by strong winds.

Posting on social media, Aemet stated that the arrival of an anticyclone will reduce rainfall in most parts of the country.

Sunshine will finally return, causing both maximum and minimum temperatures to rise, though in the northwestern part of the peninsula low cloud cover will remain, possibly bringing some rain.
Despite the departure of storm Oriana, the Aemet has maintained a yellow wind warning in several locations, including along the Mediterranean coast such as the province of Castellón.
The sea could still be choppy in places, with both Galicia and the Mediterranean coast maintaining active warnings for coastal phenomena.

Across most of the peninsula, as well as in the Balearic and Canary Islands, through the week skies will remain fairly clear, with perhaps a few brief intervals of high clouds.
The north west could see long intervals of low clouds, which could bring rain, although nothing comparable to the downpours of recent weeks.
Aemet has also posted a map with the relevant weather warnings for Monday 16th, with yellow warnings clustered along coastal areas:
