– This year, the event dedicated to European cinema will train the spotlight on a Spanish film industry in rude health; the call for Coproduction Village projects is now open

At its 18th edition, set to unspool from 12-19 December, the Les Arcs Film Festival will train the spotlight on Spain’s film output, a focus organised in conjunction with the ICAA (the Spanish Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts). The festival’s programme will offer a selection of Spanish flicks, while the Industry Village (12-15 December) will host projects at various stages of development and production. This comes on the heels of a landmark Cannes 2026 for Spanish cinema, with three movies in the main competition and no fewer than 15 across all of its sections.
The call for projects for the Coproduction Village, which will gather a selection of 18 European projects in development that are seeking new partners (with the €20,000 Eurimages Co-production Development Award also up for grabs) is now open, with applications free of charge until 15 July. The deadline for project submission is 29 July (more information can be found here).
As a reminder, this programme recently saw the participation of Everytime by Austria’s Sandra Wollner (which won the Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes this year) and The Golden Age by France’s Bérenger Thouin (which opened Cannes Classics last month), as well as the Oscar-winning Flow by Latvian helmer Gints Zilbalodis and Vermiglio by Italy’s Maura Delpero (Grand Jury Prize at Venice in 2024).
Finally, it is worth noting that the call for submissions for the highly anticipated Work in Progress will open in late August and will close on 14 October (click here for more information).
