Sublime have announced their new album, Until the Sun Explodes, their first in three decades, out June 12 via Atlantic Records. The LP follows Jakob Nowell joining the band as a frontman following the death of his father and the band’s original vocalist, Bradley.
“The last Sublime record that will ever be made is self-titled,” Jakob says. “There’s no replacing history, period. Until the Sun Explodes the album is an epilogue, and ‘Until the Sun Explodes’ the single is the epilogue to the epilogue. It is a tribute to the expansive works of Sublime, it is an acknowledgment for all that my father has done for me my entire life, and, most importantly, it is a thank you. I love you, dad, and I owe you my life.”

“This song expresses the gratitude we all feel as well as our intent for the future of our band and the music we love,” drummer Bud Gaugh says. “Until the Sun Explodes is our reality.”
Its video travels through iconic Long Beach spots connected to Sublime’s history and ends in a backyard party, honoring the multiple generations woven into the band. The visual also includes appearances from skate legends Christian Hosoi and Omar Hassan.
Until the Sun Explodes features FIDLAR, H.R. of Bad Brains, Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise, and more. Next month, they’ll celebrate the 30th anniversary of their self-titled album with two sold-out concerts at Red Rocks Amphitheatre before their own touring music festival in Texas, Oregon, and Utah throughout the spring and summer.
