Kendra Bates Defends Suddenly Amish Exit
Suddenly Amish has become a controversial hit for TLC. It has taken six people from the “English” world who are desperate to change their lives. Something is missing, or something that needs to be fixed; they are looking for simplicity. Enter Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the Amish community, with Bishop Vernon, who is looking for new additions. So many young people have left, and it has become a challenge to keep it alive, so recruitment seemed like the best option. Kendra Bates had been an OnlyFans model but was ready to slow down in her life, and this was the best opportunity.
She spoke about how her family had Mennonite roots, so she wanted to be connected to that. Her intentions in going on the show were pure, and she really hoped she could gain something from it. Kendra did as she was so grateful for the people that she met. However, viewers watched her and one of her castmates leave in the middle of the night for a hotel. Kendra has since taken to social media to explain why she left. She noted that she did it for herself and that this is a reality show. Therefore, viewers only see small fragments of what is filmed.
Moreover, there is the Amish component and then the filming aspect, so it is a lot to digest. Yet, above all, Kendra Bates claimed that she did genuinely want to be there and be a part of Suddenly Amish.

Although Kendra Bates was extremely grateful, she did admit that she began to feel uncomfortable. Therefore, the Suddenly Amish star knew it was time for her to go. Followers who saw her speaking out absolutely understood. One of her co-stars, Billie Jo, has essentially cosplayed as an Amish person for years. She joined the series and was not that kind to Kendra, and fans saw that:
