Suddenly Amish is the hit new TLC reality series that takes everyday people from the English world and challenges them to change their lives. Are they meant to be Amish, and is the grass greener on the other side? Or, are they happier with the way their lives currently are? This will all be discovered along the way, but one of the show’s stars has just revealed the most “beautiful” part of the journey. So, what was it, and did it make it worthwhile? A ‘Beautiful’ Experience
Suddenly Amish is one of the newest offerings from TLC. Breaking or Return to Amish featured Amish and Mennonite young adults who tried their hand in the English world. They left for Rumspringa to see what life was like on the outside and away from their families. It was exciting, but far from easy, leaving some missing their old lives. Now, TLC has flipped it, and the goal of the new series is to bring in people from the English world to try living like the Amish. For whatever reason, they believe that this is their calling and are ready to give it a go. It has proven to be far harder than anyone could have anticipated.
One of the show’s stars is Kendra Bates, and she is known for her short dresses and scandalous attire. She is always decked out in makeup with her hair done and is quite stunning. In the latest episode, Kendra struggled because there was no electricity and she wanted to call her mom. She does not go a long time without speaking to her family, so this was hard. Luckily, one of the Amish males had a cell phone and secretly offered it to her. In the midst of all of the adaptations, Kendra did share that there was something extremely beautiful about the whole experience.
Although the Suddenly Amish star struggled without a phone and the ability to call her mom, being technologically disconnected was a blessing:
“My stress was gone, my anxiety was gone. I felt so much more present in the moment. I think that’s the beautiful thing about going into this is you do get a different perspective and then you’re like, ‘Oh yeah, what’s normal to me might not be normal to everybody else.’”
Kendra Bates had previously used technology to her advantage as an OnlyFans model. Yet, she ended up getting baptized, and that changed everything. So, heading to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, was a great break.
All For Show
Even though Kendra Bates has nothing but praise for those that she met on Suddenly Amish, viewers are struggling with the show. They feel that it is fake and that people will do anything for a paycheck:
- These TLC shows are all a joke.
- It’s a pay check. The real surprise will be if any of them stay in the Amish community when the season ends.
- I’m very surprised an Amish community is allowing this show to go on. I guess they’re getting paid..
