Law & Order: SVU has been must-watch TV for 27 seasons. Mariska Hargitay is the only original cast member. The crime drama has undergone several casting changes in the last few years, as the writers try to find the right chemistry. Kelli Giddish returned as Detective Amanda Rollins after major fan backlash.

Octavio Pisano (Detective Joe Velasco) and Juliana Aidén Martinez (Detective Kate Silva) left after Season 26. Molly Burnett (Detective Grace Muncy) left in 2023 after just one season on the show.

Corey Cott (Detective Jake Griffin), Aimé Donna Kelly (Captain Renee Curry), and Kevin Kane (Detective Terry Bruno) were all promoted to series regulars ahead of Season 27. Ice-T and Peter Scanavino continue to appear as Sergeant Odafin “Fin” Tutuola and A.D.A. Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr.

However, fans have seen less of “Fin” this season, sparking concern that the actor was leaving. Keep reading to find out what Ice-T had to say about the rumors.

Law & Order: SVU Star Ice-T Done With Show Amid Reduced Role?

Rapper Ice-T joined SVU in Season 2. But viewers have barely seen him in Season 27. The character was beaten up early in the season and was on medical leave. “Fin” considered retirement, fueling rumors that the actor was leaving the show.

Ice-T appeared on Sherri Shepherd’s talk show to address the rumors. He admitted that he was concerned the show was writing him off after “Fin” landed in the hospital. “I’m ready for the ride,” he said about wanting to stay on SVU.

“I’m trying to get to Season 28, 28, and 30,” he added. His reduced role on the crime drama has given him more time for other ventures.

The rapper plans to release his first album in decades, Criminal Migraine. Furthermore, he started a daily podcast of motivational quotes, Ice-T’s Daily Game. “Every day I give out something called an ice-cold fact or a daily game,” he said about the podcast.

Law & Order: SVU has seen huge cast shake-ups in the last few years, but Ice-T hopes to stay put for as long as possible. NBC hasn’t officially renewed the series for Season 28, but it’s likely.

“I think that show will go on for as long as Mariska wants to do it,” he predicted. Longtime fans are still waiting for closure on Benson and Stabler’s connection. The show has been teasing them as a romantic pair for years.

Christopher Meloni returned to the role of Elliot Stabler in 2021 for Law & Order: Organized Crime. The spinoff left NBC  after four seasons and now airs exclusively on Peacock. Fans are still waiting for word on whether it will return for Season 6.

Hopefully, the network will reveal the fate of the various Law & Order franchise shows soon.
