Blake Lively showed some love to Taylor Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, amid her ongoing legal drama with Justin Baldoni.

Lively took to Instagram and “liked” Swift’s post honoring the release of the pop star’s 12th record, which dropped on Friday, October 3.

“Tonight all these lives converge here / The mosaics of laughter and cocktails of tears,” Swift wrote in a poem to caption photos from the album. “Where fraternal souls sing identical things / And it’s beautiful / It’s rapturous / It is frightening.”

Swift also shared how happy she was with the final result and expressed her gratitude for her collaborators Max Martin and Shellback.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self portrait,” she continued. “If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain … The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”

Swift and Lively have been close friends for years. However, their relationship has had its ups and downs due to Lively’s ongoing lawsuit against Baldoni.

Lively and Baldoni’s drama began in December 2024 when the actress accused her It Ends With Us costar and director of sexual harassment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her. Baldoni vehemently denied the allegations and countersued Lively.

While a judge dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit back in June, Lively’s case is proceeding and is scheduled for March 2026.

Swift — whose song “My Tears Ricochet” plays in the film — got pulled into the legal drama after Baldoni subpoenaed her. Swift denied having any involvement in the project.

Blake Lively showed she has Taylor Swift’s back after the subpoena against her friend was dropped. “We are pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm,” a spokesperson for Lively, 37, said in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday, May 22. “We […]

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” Swift’s rep said in a May statement to Us Weekly. “She did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”

Later that month, Baldoni’s lawyers withdrew their subpoenas for Swift and Lively celebrated the legal win.

“We are pleased that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties have withdrawn their harassing subpoenas to Taylor Swift and her law firm,” the statement from Lively’s team read. “We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”

After Lively’s legal win, a source told Us exclusively that Swift and the Gossip Girl alum’s friendship remained fractured.

“Although it was great news for Blake, she hasn’t rekindled her friendship with Taylor yet,” the insider explained. “Taylor has not been in touch with Blake and still does not want to discuss anything to do with the lawsuit.”

Blake Lively is requesting a “protective order” against Justin Baldoni’s legal team over their “continuing demands” for her communications with Taylor Swift, Us Weekly can confirm. Lively, 37, submitted a letter to judge Lewis J. Liman on Friday, June 13, and viewed by Us, claiming that Baldoni’s Wayfarer Parties has “pursued” her communications with Swift, […]

Nearly four months later, Swift was brought back into the legal battle for a deposition with Baldoni’s team. In a September letter to the judge, Baldoni’s lawyers claimed that Swift agreed to be deposed in October. However, Swift’s attorney slammed the response and denied she “agreed to” but rather was “forced to.” Baldoni’s request for an extension to depose the pop star was later rejected by a judge.

After Showgirl hit shelves on Friday, fans theorized that the track “Cancelled!” could be about Lively.

“They believed I was innocent / So I’m not here for judgement,” Swift sings. “But if you can’t be good then just be better at it / Everyone’s got bodies in the attic / Or took somebody’s man / Will take you by the hand / And soon you’ll learn the art of never getting caught.”

However, others have speculated that the tune could be about Swift’s new pal and fellow WAG Brittany Mahomes, whom Swift befriended after she started dating now-fiancé Travis Kelce.
