Teacher Gives Birth In Bathroom With Toddler’s Help
Women have all different kinds of births, such as home, water, and hospital. Some do it medicated, while others opt for all-natural. No matter how it is done, it should be a beautiful experience, as well as a safe one. Yet, a teacher in Madison, Wisconsin, was not so lucky to have a peaceful delivery. Rather, Shannen Krahn ended up going into labor at her home with her two-year-old son by her side. On September 15th, 2025, Shannen had left her job as a middle school math teacher. She admitted that she had felt a little off but did not read much into it. At the time, she was 39 weeks pregnant with her daughter.
Shannen told her husband, Mitch, to go to work and noted that she did not feel the same pains as she had with her son, Max, 2. No sooner than she got home did she start to feel contractions, and then they ramped up while bathing Max. She did tell Mitch that she would call him if she felt like a hospital visit was necessary, but things did not go as planned. Shannen found herself in active labor, and she headed to the bathroom to retrieve hospital items when her water broke. Max was by her side the whole time, and she soon delivered a baby girl.
Brooklynn Suzanne was delivered in their Wisconsin home while Max was Shannen’s best aide. She recalled what her birth was like with her toddler by her side. He rubbed her arm and ensured she was not alone. Mitch eventually came home with no clue where his family was. Shannen and her new baby were soon taken to the hospital and discharged within one day.
A Hopeful New Life
Now that the Wisconsin family of four is settling in, Shannen Krahn notes that Max thinks of her daughter as his baby:
“He calls her, ‘My baby.’ He wants to know where she is all the time.”
Max is extremely hands-on when it comes to her feedings, and more so, the birth definitely bonded the siblings. When followers heard about this incredible story, they praised Max, but also had to chuckle:
