In a harrowing story coming out of Fort Worth, Texas, an infant was recently pinned under a vehicle following a devastating crash on the highway. So, what happened with this situation, and what else do we know so far?
Devastating Crashes Happen Daily In The United States
Because driving is so common in the United States, it can be easy for a lot of people to forget that you take a major risk every time you get out on the road. One wrong turn or one distraction can mean the difference between life and death on the road, and not everyone returns home alive.
According to recent estimates making the rounds online, more than 16,000 car crashes happen daily in the United States. While that may not be an astounding number when you consider how many people live in America, that is still a lot, especially when you consider the impact on people’s lives.
Based on the latest updates making the rounds from PEOPLE, two officers responded to a vehicle crash on I-30 in Fort Worth, Texas. According to reports, a mother and her one-year-old child were “ejected” from the vehicle following the crash.
Baby Pinned Under Vehicle Following Crash In Texas
According to police, “The infant was pinned beneath the overturned vehicle and was unresponsive.” Body cam footage shows the harrowing aftermath, where officers, with the help of people on the scene, moved the vehicle and got to the baby underneath.

One of the officers on the scene began to perform chest compressions on the infant after getting the baby out from under the vehicle. According to PEOPLE, “One of the officers, identified as Nichols, started chest compressions on the girl while the other attempted to clear her airways. One of the officers could be heard saying, ‘She has a pulse. Is she breathing though?’”
“Nichols kept up chest compressions, as Bounds said, ‘I think I feel her breath. I feel her breathing.’ The infant could be heard making sounds of struggling to breathe as the officers continued CPR. Eventually, the child let out a cry, letting the officers know that she was alright.”
Many commenters on social media are praising the actions of the officers on the scene. This bad situation could have ended up being much worse without their quick thinking and quick action.
- One commenter said, “Sometimes miracles wear a badge.”
- A second person added, “That poor baby was lucky to be alive my heart dropped seeing them pull her out from underneath the car. I could care less about the mom for not having her baby secured in a car seat and shouldn’t get her baby back.”
