The Bride!, a bold, iconoclastic take on one of the world’s most compelling stories, has had its first trailer release online.
From Director Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Lost Daughter) and starring Academy Award nominee Jessie Buckley and Academy Award winner Christian Bale comes a lonely Frankenstein (Bale) who travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him. The two revive a recently murdered young woman, and The Bride (Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!
The film features a star-studded lineup with Buckley and Bale joined by the likes of Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Academy Award nominee (and brother) Jake Gyllenhaal, and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs the film from her own screenplay and produces alongside Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman Keren. The executive producers are Carla Raij, David Webb, and Courtney Kivowitz.
Gyllenhaal’s The Bride is one of several Frankenstein films currently on the way to cinema, including a version directed by Guillermo del Toro starring Euphoria and Saltburn star Jacob Elordi as the reanimated monster for Netflix. Del Toro’s film also stars Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.
The Bride! will be released in the UK on 6th March 2026 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
