Samsung could be working on enhancing the camera experience, with leaked code hinting at a video version of the already released photo softening option for Samsung’s next flagship.
Android Authority recently spotted code in the Camera Assistant Lock Module on One UI 8.5 that suggests a “Video softening” option could be in the works to address the need for a video assist feature.
To add some context, the Camera Assistant app already offers a picture softening option that lets users reduce harsh details to create smoother, more natural-looking photos with less sharpening. From there, users can also toggle the softening effect to off, medium, or high to adjust intensity.
The new setting will let users adjust the camera’s autofocus speed and sensitivity. There is also a shift sensitivity feature that controls how quickly the autofocus jumps between subjects as they enter or leave the frame, and a transition speed that controls the refocus movement speed.
This feature may be introduced with the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, as the setting is currently not enabled in the Galaxy S25’s One UI 8.5 Beta 2.
Android Authority noted that Samsung could be positioning the Galaxy S26 Ultra toward camera enthusiasts or professionals who could take advantage of the new features. However, we will likely learn more when the device debuts.
