RedMagic’s new gaming phone has just been released with a new first: liquid cooling.
The crazy new gaming phone launched in China ahead of a wider launch coming later this year (based on RedMagic Canada’s website, I’m expecting that to come on November 3).
The device features an active liquid cooling system, as opposed to the passive vapour chamber systems that have been common in high-end Android devices over the past few years. The system sports a ceramic micro-pump to push the liquid through the phone.
As mentioned earlier, this is a first for mobile phones, with the only other real example of this tech coming from a concept device built by OnePlus in 2023. The new RedMagic 11 Pro sports a translucent ring in the centre to show off the liquid cooling action.
The Verge’s Dominic Preston noted that one of the main selling points of the 11 Pro is the massive battery. According to Preston, the phone sports a whopping 8,000 mAh battery, which is over 500 mAh than the recent Xiaomi and Oppo phones.

To add some context as to how good the battery is, the RedMagic 10 sports a 6,000 mAh battery, which was capable of lasting up to two days of regular use or a full day of gameplay.
The new liquid cooling and larger battery should further boost not only the device’s performance, but also increase its overall playtime by a significant amount.
