The rumoured soon-to-be-released OnePlus 16 could be the most powerful Android phone released in 2026.
The phone reportedly comes with a 9,000mAh battery, while most flagship phones carry around 4,500mAh – 5,500mAh. This could mean that the OnePlus 16 will carry up to two days of battery life. To put this into perspective, Samsung’s soon-to-be-released Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with a 5,000mAh battery. The device will also come equipped with the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, a 200MP camera with a 50MP 3x periscope lens. For consumers looking to purchase the phone, be prepared to pay slightly more than last year’s model.

The base model is expected to be priced at around 5,000 yuan (C$982), which is a 20 percent increase from the OnePlus 15’s original starting price. This price doesn’t look too bad after direct conversion, but it’s likely that it would cost more in international markets, including Canada. The OnePlus 15 was priced at C$1,299.99, despite only costing 4,000 yuan (C$782); given we’re likely to see a 20 per cent increase, that means the OP16 could cost $1,559 in Canada. This is due to rising component costs and RAM shortages in the smartphone industry.
Recent leaks indicate that the phone could be released in late 2026. However, the OnePlus 16 may only launch in China due to rumours that OnePlus could shut down in the U.S. and India, based on the small market they have. However, the OnePlus 15 is sold in Best Buy in Canada, so hopefully this doesn’t apply to us as well.
Over the last few years, OnePlus has been releasing fewer phones worldwide. OnePlus is integrated with Oppo, the parent company. They share the same R&D, similar software (OxygenOS/ColorOS), and shared hardware designs. These changes have started to make people believe that the brand is slowly starting to disappear.
