The Pitt has featured quite a few intense and realistic depictions of medical procedures. This was the case with one recent episode, after the series returned for a second season. In fact, one of the show’s cast members shared a surprising reaction to the scene.
Viewers Have Seen Various Procedures Performed At The Trauma Center On The Pitt
The Pitt is a medical drama series revolving around the emergency staff at a fictional Pittsburgh medical center. Each episode revolves around one hour of the work shift.
While not an official spin-off, fans often see the series as a follow-up of sorts to the medical drama, ER. This is due to shared cast and crew members, including Noah Wyle and John Wells, as well as its similar setting.
Due to being set in a trauma center, the show naturally has many intense and emotional moments. In fact, one cast member recently opened up about a scene that gave them nightmares in real life.
This took place in the second episode of the drama’s second season, which dropped this past Thursday. A patient, played by Christopher T. Wood, was suffering from priapism. This involved an erection lasting over four hours.
One Actor Admitted To Nightmares, Another Was Grateful They Weren’t In The Scene
The character explained he had doubled the suggested dosage of erectile dysfunction medication for his wedding anniversary, causing the issue. To treat the patient, a long needle was injected into the penis to drain blood. The procedure had been simulated, using a prosthetic penis. However, the series is still known for its realistic depictions of medical treatments.
In fact, actress Sepideh Moafi shared that she was spooked by the scene. The actress, who plays physician Dr. Ali Hashimi, helped guide the procedure while in character.
According to The U.S. Sun, the actress spoke about the scene at the show’s second season premiere in Los Angeles. She shared, “I remember that scene very well. I have nightmares about that scene.”
“I saw [the prosthetic] in the hair and makeup trailer, and I was like, ‘Who’s having fun between shots?’ I was like, ‘What is happening?’ And then I quickly realized what it was.”
Another cast member, Supriya Ganesh, who portrays the character of Dr. Samira Mohan, shared that they were happy not to be in the scene. As they shared, “Every day I thank my lucky stars I was not in that.”
