    12/02/2026 – The 29th edition of the Spanish event, held from 6 to 15 March, will present a total of 263 titles

    The Malaga Film Festival will showcase the diversity of Spanish cinema in its 29th edition (6-15 March), with a programme featuring 263 audiovisual works across all its sections, alongside a wide variety of activities and events under the motto “Culture is encounter and Malaga, the best moment.”

    The Official Selection will include 22 films (twelve Spanish and ten Latin American). In addition to the Spanish titles previously announced — Calle Málaga [+see also:

    by Maryam Touzani, which opens the festival; Altas capacidades by Víctor García León (read more); and Después de Kim by Ángeles González-Sinde (read more) — the line-up also includes: Iván & Hadoum by Ian de la Rosa (presented this week at the Berlinale); The Good Daughter [+see also:

    by Julia de Paz (winner at last November’s Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival – read more); Mi querida señorita by Fernando González Molina (based on the 1972 film of the same name directed by Jaime de Armiñán); Yo no moriré de amor by debut filmmaker Marta Matute (read more); Corredora by Laura García Alonso; Mala bèstia by Bárbara Farré; Pioneras. Solo querían jugar by Marta Díaz de Lope Díaz (read more); Pizza Movies by Carlo Padial (read more); and Lapönia by David Serrano (read more).

    Alongside these titles are the Latin American productions El jardín que soñamos (Mexico) by Joaquín del Paso, soon to be presented at the Berlinale; Ángeles (Mexico/Argentina) by Paula Markovitch; El corazón del lobo (Peru) by Francisco J Lombardi; El guardián (Mexico/Spain) by Nuria Ibáñez; Hangar rojo (Chile/Argentina/Italy) by Juan Pablo Sallato; La mujer de la fila (Argentina/Spain) by Benjamín Ávila; La hija Cóndor (Bolivia/Peru/Uruguay) by Álvaro Olmos Torrico; and Mil pedazos (Chile/Argentina/Spain) by Sergio Castro-San Martín. The line-up also includes two feature films directed by actors: Juana (Mexico) by Daniel Giménez Cacho, and Neurótica anónima (Cuba) by Jorge Perugorría.

    In addition, 21 films (19 Spanish and two Latin American) will screen out of competition. The Spanish titles include 9 lunas by  Patricia Ortega (the director’s new film following Mamacruz [+see also:

    – read more); Día de caza by Pedro Aguilera (read more); A una isla de ti by Alexis Morante; Andy by Román Parrado; Auri by Violeta Salama; Casi todo bien by Andrés Salmoyraghi and Rafael López Saubidet;  Dos días by Gonzaga Manso; Femení Singular by Xavi Puebla; Hora y veinte by Marc Romero; Hugo 24 by Luc Knowles; La familia Benetón +2 by Joaquín Mazón, closing film; Los justos by Jorge A Lara and Fernando Pérez; Mallorca confidencial by David Ilundain; Solos by Guillermo Ríos; Todos los colores by Beatriz de Silva; Another Man [+see also:

    by David Moragas; Un hijo by Nacho la Casa; and Viaje al país de los blancos by Dani Sancho. The section also include the Latin American titles Bye Bye Paraíso by Kim Elizondo Navarro (Costa Rica/Colombia/Uruguay), and La casaca de Diosby Fernan Miras (Argentina/United States).

    The film festival will also present Zonazine, its commitment to new cinema, now in its 23rd year. The section will screen the Spanish films La carn by Joan Porcel; Cuántica rave by Paco L Campano; and Somos la jungla by Gwai Lou (in co-production with Malaysia). It will also feature the Peruvian production Aquella sombra desvanecía, directed by Samuel Urbina; Los nadadores (Argentina/Mexico/United States) by Sol Iglesias SK; Oca (Mexico/Argentina/Spain) by Karla Badillo; and Casi desierto (Brazil/United States) by José Eduardo Belmonte.

    Finally, the official non-competitive Series section will include: Acoustic Home by Alexis Morante; Cochinas by Andrea Jaurrieta, Laura M Campos and Núria Gago; Entre tierras 2 by Humberto Miró, Salvador García and David Montoya; La nena by Paco Cabezas; Millennial mal by Lorena Iglesias and Andrea Jaurrieta; Por cien millones by Nacho G Velilla (read more); and Si es martes, es asesinato by Salvador Calvo and Abigail Schaaff.
