Nearly a decade after a young singer’s tragic fall from David Harbour’s New York apartment, the mystery surrounding her death has resurfaced, reignited by Lily Allen’s explosive new album.

In September 2015, 29-year-old Christin Croft, a promising hip-hop artist chasing her big break, plunged to her death from the third-floor fire escape of David Harbour’s East Village apartment.

At the time, Harbour, then an emerging Broadway actor, was in Canada working on a film. Croft was alone in his apartment when she fell.

The NYPD initially confirmed the death was not considered suspicious, later ruling the manner of death “undetermined.”

Authorities found a note at the scene, but its contents were never publicly disclosed.

Croft’s death remained largely out of the spotlight until now.

A decade later, it has resurfaced following Lily Allen’s newly released album, “West End Girl.”

One of its most discussed tracks, “P-ssy Palace,” includes lyrics referencing “an apartment in the West Village,” eerily similar to where Harbour once lived.

“Don’t come home, I don’t want you in my bed. Go to the apartment in the West Village instead,” Allen sings.

As Allen herself told Interview Magazine, “There are definitely some things that happened in my real life that are reflected on this record.”

While “West End Girl” climbed to the top of the UK iTunes chart, Christin Croft’s family found themselves reliving a nightmare.

Croft’s cousin’s husband, Marlon Martindale, told the Daily Mail that the renewed attention has been painful for those left behind.

“I don’t recall being told about a suicide note, but the last person to speak to her said she was in good spirits,” he shared.

Relatives described Croft as a woman determined to rebuild her life despite deep struggles with mental illness.

“Yes, Christin fell to her death from David Harbour’s apartment in 2015. She struggled with mental illness. She was trying to get her life together,” Martindale said.

Before her death, Croft had been taking medication and working to regain custody of her daughter.

“She was working hard and trying to get her daughter back at the time. They were working on getting back that mother-daughter bond when she died,” Martindale added.

Her social media posts revealed glimpses of her internal battle.

In one haunting message six months before her death, she wrote, “I’m just a wrecked ship tryna make it ashore. Some things are too damaged to be repaired. Rough sailing on this deck. About to walk the plank.”

Despite her turmoil, Croft’s family insists she was not romantically involved with Harbour.

“They were good friends. They’d do a lot of networking together. He helped her meet people in acting and music,” Martindale said. “She was friendly, always trying to get her foot in the door with rappers, singers, producers, and directors.”

When news broke of Christin Croft’s death, Harbour was in Toronto attending the premiere of “Black Mass.”

The rising star was reportedly devastated when he received word that someone he had been trying to help had died.

At the time, Harbour explained to the New York Daily News, “She was someone who struggled. She was in the shelter system. I was trying to help her out.”

However, Croft’s relatives dispute that version of events.

“Christin had plenty of places to stay, she wasn’t in the shelter system like he said, she had plenty of family to stay with – or sometimes she would be recording and stay there,” Martindale countered.

Harbour later described the loss as deeply confusing and traumatic. He said, “I’m very confused. I don’t understand how this happened. She seemed to be a lovely person. It’s a terrible tragedy. I’m very shaken by this,” he said.

The case was closed as “undetermined,” and Croft’s name faded from headlines until Lily Allen’s new album resurrected public curiosity about what really happened in that Manhattan apartment all those years ago.

Allen’s “West End Girl” has become one of the most talked-about albums of the year, and not just for its music.

The record’s themes of infidelity, secrecy, and emotional distance have drawn listeners into what many believe are veiled references to her marriage to Harbour.

Allen has neither confirmed nor denied this, saying only, “Some of it is based on truth and some of it is fantasy.”

Recently, he resurfaced at Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universe Park, smiling and chatting with fans as he treated Allen’s daughters, Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 12, to a weekend outing.
