Viewers recently saw Elisabeth Hasselbeck make her return to The View as a guest co-host. During her time, she shared a new book with the audience, complete with a surprise at the end, even for viewers at home. Since then, commenters have been sharing their own reactions on social media.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck Was Filling In For Alyssa Farah Griffin On The View
Elisabeth became known to many after appearing on the second season of Survivor, ultimately finishing in fourth place. The following year, she married NFL player Tim Hasselbeck.
Elisabeth later gained further notoriety after becoming a co-host on The View from 2003 to 2013. After this, she became a co-host on Fox & Friends from 2013 to 2015.
It was recently announced that Hasselbeck would return to The View as a guest co-host. She would be one of the rotating co-hosts helping to fill in for Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was on maternity leave following the birth of her son.
During her recent return to the show, Hasselbeck also showed off her children’s book, God’s Masterpiece. Saying that it was through “God’s goodness” that she had the opportunity to write these things, she explained that the book was an art lesson for kids.
The title of the book was in reference to Ephesians 2:10, which shares, according to one translation, “For we are God’s masterpiece.” Hasselbeck’s book even included a mirror so that children looking into it can see themselves as God’s own masterpiece.
A Few Comments Were Directed Towards The Studio Audience’s Own Reaction To The Book
During her share, Hasselbeck also expressed, “I’ve yet to see a child see that mirror at the back of the book and not smile.” After the share, Whoopi Goldberg revealed to the studio audience that they would be going home with a copy of the book. She then told viewers at home to scan a QR code to help them get a copy.
On social media, however, many commenters took issue with the recent segment. Comments came from different sources, from the segment’s own YouTube upload to Reddit.
Some took issue with a co-host using the show to promote an item, though others shared different reasons, with some even suggesting the book was produced through AI. Others commented on the audience’s reactions to getting free copies. That said, some people came to Hasselbeck’s defense. A few comments included:
- “Those audience’s faces when they got that free book they didn’t want it is priceless.”
- “But did you see the crowd reaction? Some of them were absolutely hysterical.”
- “Why does this book look identical to Jinger Duggar-Vuolo’s new children’s book????”
- “Snow White already had a mirror on her book. Wow, how about that. I’ll skip this week.”
- “The amount of people upset over a kid’s book about God is astonishing.”
- “I’m not sure but is this ai… The top right frame isn’t symmetrical, the hoodie drawstrings are awkwardly short, and the hands are done weirdly.”
