Oscar-nominated actress Whoopi Goldberg has been on The View for nearly two decades. Despite her veteran experience as a talk show host, she’s not always polite to the guest. In fact, she’s gotten into heated debates on multiple occasions over the years. One former guest of the ABC talk show reignited their feud after a heated on-air clash. Keep reading for all the shocking details.
The View Guest Reignites Feud With Whoopi Goldberg After Heated Clash
The explosive argument between former hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O’Donnell isn’t the feud that has stood the test of time. A long ago feud between Whoopi Goldberg and a former guest was just reignited in an unexpected way.
Back in 2018, The View welcomed actress Mo’Nique to the show. During her appearance, she opened up about working on the 2009 movie Precious and her alleged “blackballing” by the industry. Mo’Nique won an Oscar in 2010 for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the flick. However, the roles dried up soon afterward, which she has spoken out about many times.
In 2018, she said on The View that she refused to promote the movie overseas because she had already fulfilled her contract obligations and wasn’t paid for the extra work. That didn’t sit right with Whoopi Goldberg. She said that she could have “schooled” Mo’Nique over how contracts work in the entertainment industry. The on-air clash sparked a nearly decade-long feud that recently resurfaced.
Mo’Nique Pens Open Letter
Mo’Nique took to Instagram this week with an open letter to Whoopi Goldberg after seeing a replay of their heated argument. She asked the host if she’s had a change of heart over what she said back then.

“The tone of the comments today seems different from the energy eight years ago, with many people now agreeing with my sentiment about not working for people or entities I don’t owe anything to. I wonder, have your feelings changed since that time?” she wrote.
Mo’Nique wrote that she recently found out about a time in the past when Whoopi Goldberg was almost sued for allegedly not fulfilling a contract. She was reportedly attached to star in Theodore Rex. She backed out and defended the move by saying she had only verbally agreed to do the film.
“You can imagine how confused I was when I discovered this, especially since when I explained that my only contractual obligation was to Lee Daniels, it didn’t sway your opinion enough to stop you from saying you could have ‘schooled’ me on doing what they expected from me.” Mo’Nique wrote about the new information.
She ended the letter by asking Whoopi Goldberg if she was ready to admit she was wrong.

Has Words For Tyler Perry, Too
Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t the only target in the open letter. Tyler Perry, who was an executive producer on Precious, previously said Mo’Nique was difficult to work with. He later took the comments back, but it was too late.
“People like Tyler Perry refused to take responsibility, while I had to take responsibility for refusing to sign up for an act of slavery against my will,” Mo’Nique wrote. Whoopi Goldberg has yet to respond to the public calling out.
