The co-hosts of The View have often gotten responses to their discussions on the show, occasionally making headlines. This comes from people ranging from casual fans on social media to even political figures. Recently, one prominent celeb had a few choice words to describe the show, though they weren’t quite being themselves at the time.
The View Was Recently Described In Less-Than-Flattering Terms On A Certain Show
The View first premiered in 1997. On the long-running talk show, viewers have seen various co-hosts discuss current events and hot topics at the table.
Various co-hosts have taken their seat at the table over the years. The most recent lineup is made up of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Since its premiere, the series has often popped up in pop culture. Recently, the talk show got a shout-out on the series, Landman. This neo-Western drama series, which was created by Taylor Sheridan, stars Billy Bob Thornton as the titular landman in West Texas.
During a recent episode, a father-and-son phone call was featured between Thornton’s character Tommy and Sam Elliott’s character, T.L. When the latter called Tommy, asking for something to do, he suggested, “Read a book or watch TV. Watch one of them daytime talk shows, you know, like The View or something,”
T.L. seemed confused by what The View was. Tommy then described the show in less-than-flattering terms. On the show, it was described as a “bunch of pissed off millionaires bitching about how much they hate millionaires and [President Donald] Trump and men and you and me. And everybody else they got a bee up their a** about.”
The Real Billy Bob Thornton Actually Appeared On The View Back In 2024
Tommy also described the show as “funny.” He then clarified, “Well, it ain’t joke funny, it’s like fart in church funny, you know what I mean?” For his part, T.L. shared, “That don’t sound funny, either.”
Of course, as the scene went on, T.L. eventually explained the real reason he called. He was locked outside of his house and couldn’t get back in. When Tommy suggested it was just an issue with the handle, T.L. responded, “I’ve been opening doors for 80 f****** years. I’m pretty sure I’ve mastered the task.”

As for the actor behind the character, Thornton himself actually appeared on The View back in 2024. Funnily enough, he appeared on the talk show to promote Landman at the time.
Landman is currently in its second season, which premiered on November 16, 2025. Episodes are expected to drop well into January 2026.
