The View hosts spend a lot of time talking about President Trump and what’s happening in the United States. While the hosts of the ABC show come from different political ideologies, most of them are against Trump’s policies.
Joy Behar is one of his most outspoken critics. In a rare moment, she expressed a sense of pity for President Trump after feuding for years. Keep reading to find out the surprising reason she feels sorry for him.
The FCC Issues Stern Warning To The View
President Trump isn’t a big fan of The View either. His administration often issues terse responses to what the hosts say about current events. The President has suggested multiple times that the FCC could revoke the show’s broadcasting license. That hasn’t happened yet, but the FCC did just change a longstanding policy that could negatively impact the ABC talk show.
It’s common during elections for politicians to go on various talk shows to spread their campaign messages. However, the FCC has a rule that requires equal time for candidates from all political parties. A 2006 ruling gave certain shows an exception from the rule. Late-night talk shows and The View are among the shows exempt from the equal time rule, but maybe not for long.
The FCC’s Media Bureau said this week that talk shows shouldn’t rely on the previous exemptions and may be required to file to apply for exemptions on a case-by-case basis. The change in ruling hasn’t been implemented yet, nor is it clear if the FCC will enforce it.
Joy Behar Expresses Pity For President Trump
President Trump has reportedly put pressure on the FCC to do something about The View and other late-night talk shows that he thinks are unfair to him. In a rare moment, Joy Behar said earlier this week that she feels “sorry” for President Trump.

“Mary Trump, his niece, I was reading her Twitter account for something, and she’s talking about how he is not a loved person. He was not loved as a child, and so he worships money or something. Even his children are transactional relationships. I feel sorry for him,” she said.
Her co-host, Sunny Hostin, reacted in disbelief, but Joy Behar stood by her statement. She added that she recently re-watched an interview between Terry Moran and President Trump from last year.
“I watched the whole thing, and I’m really starting to feel sorry for him…. He’s in over his head. The simplest questions he cannot answer. He knows that only immigration is maybe where he has been somewhat successful… and then he turns on Terry Moran when he asked, ‘How dare you ask me a question I can’t answer?’ I mean, the guy is over his head,” she said about the old interview.
Joy Behar’s sympathy for President Trump came days after the White House blasted The View hosts for demanding Congress invoke the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.
While Joy Behar isn’t a fan of President Trump, she extended an invitation for him to appear as a guest on The View. It’s unlikely he will accept the invitation to join her in the New York City studio while he’s in office.
