Heated arguments are normal on The View. Things get intense between the regular co-hosts sometimes. But Joy Behar, 83, had to step in to shield a guest co-host during a tense “Hot Topics” moment. Keep reading to find out more about the shocking incident.
The View Hosts Talk Ongoing War In Iran
Citizens around the country, regardless of political affiliation, were shocked in late February to wake up to the news that the U.S. had bombed Iran. Once the shock wore off, people took a side, either for or against the war. President Trump gave a hopeful hint that the war could be over soon. He said that he had productive talks with the Iranian leadership but didn’t give further updates.
He praised Defense Secretary (or “Secretary of War,” as his position was renamed months ago) Pete Hegseth for being an early advocate for bombing Iran. The country has allegedly been rebuilding its nuclear weapons after the U.S. previously demolished the facilities.
The war is a divisive topic, as most things are with the current administration. The majority of The View hosts are against bombing Iran, especially after a strike hit a school. During a recent episode of the ABC talk show, the hosts debated whether Pete Hegseth, a former Fox News anchor, is qualified for his role. That’s when things took a turn.
Joy Behar Steps In To Shield Guest Host
Regular View co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin went on maternity leave in February. She’s expected to return soon. Abby Huntsman returned to the talk show as a guest co-host. She previously hosted the show for two seasons, but left in 2020. The outspoken Republican very much supports the war with Iran.

But does she think Pete Hegseth is qualified for his position? Sunny Hostin kept asking, but Abby Huntsman deflected. “I know Pete. I worked on a show with Pete, and I praise him for his service. He’s a smart guy. He was a perfect Fox News host,” she said about him. Sunny Hostin asked if he was qualified for the Secretary of Defense job. Instead of answering, Abby Huntsman went off on a tangent.
“The memes, the cartoons, and the movie memes have got to stop,” she said. But Sunny Hostin wasn’t having it and asked the question again. “I don’t hope for the demise of the country and the people that are in charge right now, so I pray for the best,” Abby Huntsman replied.
Sunny Hostin asked for a third time, “Is he qualified to be Secretary of Defense?” Abby Huntsman avoided the question for again, responding, “The way they are playing this game right now is like checkers when the rest of the world is playing chess.”
Sunny Hostin asked again, but Joy Behar broke in to end the back-and-forth. “Do I need to save you from Sunny?” she asked. However, Abby Huntsman turned down the offer for help and eventually admitted that she didn’t think Pete Hegseth was qualified. The audience cheered at Sunny Hostin finally getting her answer. Do you think she went too far in badgering Abby Huntsman? Let us know in the comments.
