The View Hosts Ruined Al Roker’s Wife’s Event
Despite being on rival networks, NBC’s Al Roker and ABC’s Deborah Roberts have been married for over two decades. The 20/20 anchor hosts a charity event every year. Deborah Roberts opens up her closet to raise money for good causes. However, this year’s event caused gossip about Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin. The charity event was held at ABC’s studios in Manhattan, New York.
The View hosts reportedly showed up to the event early and raided the closet, leaving little for everyone else at the event. Sources spilled to Page Six that Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin “riffled through” the ABC anchor’s designer clothes. They reportedly told the event organizers that someone would call later to pay the bill.
The insider spilled that a network staffer later called and demanded a discount. The snafu reportedly riled other network staffers who wanted to get their hands on pricey clothes a steep discount.
“People were livid that these high-profile, well-paid stars were rifling through the goods before everyone else… and the sense of entitlement they exhibited by not paying. And then having someone ask for a discount,” the source vented.

Joy Behar Denies Rumors
Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin addressed their alleged bad behavior during an episode of the show’s Behind the Table podcast. Sunny Hostin said that she found out about the sale at the last minute and invited Joy Behar to go with her. Since The View was taping two shows that day, she got permission from Deborah Roberts to hit the sale early.
In our defense, we bought a few things, but not as much as Lara Spencer,” Sunny Hostin said on the podcast. Joy Behar called the reported clothing raid “fake news.” She said she only bought four items, including expensive earrings as a gift for a View staffer.
Al Roker’s Wife Shares What Really Happened
Deborah Roberts hosts the annual event not just to clear out her closet, but to raise money for worthwhile causes. “I can use that money to help organizations who are doing good things like Citymeals on Wheels helping elderly fight hunger and other good organizations,” she said about why she hosts the annual event.
She defended The View hosts in a statement to Page Six. “They were excited for a shopping moment and as we all were. Joy showed up promptly with cash the next day and Sunny Venmoed like everyone else and was quite generous. It’s all for a good cause to support food insecurity charities and to help me clear out my closet,” the ABC anchor explained.
