Whoopi Goldberg takes nearly every Friday off from The View, with a few exceptions. The audience was surprised on Friday to see that Ana Navarro was also missing. Joy Behar and the other hosts had a surprising reaction to the unexplained absence. Keep reading for all the details.
The View Panel Reacts To Ana Navarro’s Unexplained Absence
Ana Navarro is a full-time co-host on The View but doesn’t work every day. She has other responsibilities, including frequently appearing on CNN as a political commentator. Despite her schedule, Joy Behar seemed surprised on Friday’s episode when her co-host wasn’t there.
Joy Behar serves as moderator on the days when Whoopi Goldberg is off, which is usually Fridays. The comedian opened the show by greeting the studio audience and viewers at home. After saying “hello,” she pointed out that Ana Navarro wasn’t at the table.
“Ana is off today. We know not where, but she is not here,” Joy Behar said. Only four hosts sat at the table. Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and guest host Abby Huntsman joined Joy Behar. Abby Huntsman is the latest fill-in host during Alyssa Farah Griffin’s maternity leave.
Comedian Whitney Cummings guest hosts next week. She’s the last of the previously announced guest hosts, which could mean that Alyssa Farah Griffin returns in early April. The show hasn’t made an official announcement yet.

Joy Behar seemed somewhat annoyed that Ana Navarro wasn’t there. But according to Entertainment Weekly, the absence was planned in advance. Ana Navarro is expected to return on Monday, March 30.
Where She Was
Ana Navarro didn’t address her absence from The View. However, her social media activity revealed a huge hint about why she skipped Friday’s episode. She posted several videos from a concert she attended on Friday night. But not just any concert.
She went to see the legendary Maná in Miami, Florida. “In a country that feels like an out-of-control dumpster fire, it is that much more important to find balance, to find community, to experience joy. That’s just what I did last night. @anamariag.u, @treehouseacupuncturemiami, my two best friends since we were 8, and I braved the Miami traffic, put on our comfy shoes, and headed out to see @manaoficial,” she wrote in the caption.
Ana Navarro added, “We celebrated Latino excellence, soaked it all in. There’s something about rockers- they just don’t give a s**t about age. They keep on rocking. At a time when our community is under attack and has endured so much constant pain and separation, it was cathartic to be happy, to be loud and proud together for three hours.”
Since The View tapes in New York City, Ana Navarro may have taken the day off to stay in Miami, Florida, for the concert. She’ll be back on the talk show on Monday. Tell us in the comments if you think Joy Behar was out of line to point out the absence.
