The View was created on the idea of a talk show co-hosted only by women of different backgrounds and opinions. However, the U.S. wasn’t nearly as divided in 1997 when the show began as it is now. The View Hosts Debate ICE’s Latest Assignment
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been around since 2003. However, they cracked down on illegal immigrants harder than ever before under President Trump. ICE and Border Patrol agents were involved in several incidents in the last few months that resulted in citizens being killed. The opinions of ICE and their tactics are widely divided. Several hosts of The View disagree with the perceived brutality of ICE under Trump.
The President made an announcement over the weekend that ICE would be helping TSA at several airports around the country. Due to a partial government shutdown, TSA agents aren’t getting paychecks and the strain on resources has caused insanely long lines at the security checkpoint in high travel areas.
Putting ICE in the airports was debated during the “Hot Topic” segment on The View. Several of the hosts spoke out against the idea, including moderator Whoopi Goldberg.
Sara Haines Faces Backlash Over Controversial Stance
Sara Haines was one of the only hosts to speak out in support of putting ICE in the airports to help TSA. “I don’t actually hate the idea of this right now. ICE has gotten billions of dollars, they have almost doubled their budget. We’re talking about TSA workers who aren’t getting paid and the ones that are making it there are having to pay for gas prices and riding buses,” she said.
Guest co-host Abby Huntsman agreed with Sara and added, “It’s crazy we’re spending billions of dollars on a war right now, what’s going on in Iran, and we can’t even feel safe in our airports, and Congress is still getting paid!”
However, Sunny Hostin disagreed. “I don’t feel comfortable at all having ICE agents there, because ICE agents, instead of getting 72 days of training, they only get 42 days of training, and they are not trained the way TSA agents,” she said.
Sara Haines identifies as neither a Democrat or a Republican. She’s an Independent. However, viewers think she should just come out as a MAGA supporter. They took to social media to blast her stance on ICE and previous political topics.
