Fans noticed she was missing from The View for two weeks at the end of November. She revealed that she was in Italy filming an arc on the country’s popular Un Posto Al Sole soap opera. Her episodes air in 2026.

Now that she’s back in New York, Whoopi Goldberg has expanded her family. She shared the news on the ABC talk show that she became a great-grandmother for the second time. She introduced her new great-granddaughter, Lotus Dean, who arrived over the weekend.
Despite being in the public eye for decades, the EGOT winner leads a very private life. Whoopi Goldberg has been married three times. Her first marriage to Alvin Martin was from 1973 until 1979. Her second marriage to David Claessen lasted from 1986 until 1988. Her third marriage to Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994. ended after a year. The View host only has one child, a daughter, Alex Martin, with her first husband.
Whoopi Goldberg became a grandmother when she was in her thirties. Her daughter has three children – Amara Dean, 36, Jerzey Dean, 29, and Mason Dean, 27. The Ghost actress became a great-grandma for the first time in 2014 when her eldest grandchild, Amara, welcomed a daughter, Charli Rose.
Whoopi Goldberg’s youngest grandson, Mason, made her a great-grandma for the second time. He welcomed a daughter, Lotus Dean. The proud great-grandma shared a look at her new great-grandchild on the ABC talk show.
“It’s a wonderful thing. This is my second,” she told her co-hosts. Sunny Hostin asked whether the great-grandbabies call Whoopi Goldberg “Glam-ma” or another nickname. “No, they call me Whoopi — cause I’m not the grandma! I’m the great grandma! So just Whoopi,” the actress said.
