With The View famous for its “hot topic” discussions, it’s only to be expected that things will get heated at times. Recently, Whoopi Goldberg appeared to have to intervene during a recent episode’s discussion. Since then, fans have been reacting to the story on social media.
The Panel Has Looked A Bit Different During Recent Episodes Of The View
Goldberg has had a decades-long career as an actress and comedian. However, in recent years, she’s become known to many as a moderator and co-host on The View.
Recently, the panel has looked a bit different on the long-running talk show. With Alyssa Farah Griffin on maternity leave, various guest co-hosts have been filling in for her on the show.
During this time, Elisabeth Hasselbeck made a return to the show as one of the temporary hosts, having previously been on the show from 2003 to 2013. Recently, Hasselbeck weighed in as the co-hosts discussed the recent strikes in Iran.
At one point, Hasselbeck shared a positive view of the strikes, sharing, “This is a geopolitical move of brilliance. It will be painful in the short term. We will absolutely choke down China’s oil access from Iran. We’ve done it with Venezuela… We have had imminent threats. Thousands of people have been killed by this regime.”
Hasselbeck also claimed that the Obama administration had paid for “these nukes.” This appeared to be in reference to earlier comments made by co-host Joy Behar concerning Obama’s earlier attempts at an agreement with Iran.
Some Fans Felt That The Co-Hosts Should Be Allowed To Debate Things, Whether Or Not Things Get Heated
Behar disagreed, asking, “Elisabeth, are you willing to send boys and girls [to war]…” Soon, the co-hosts started talking over each other.
Goldberg soon cut in to announce the show would be cutting to a commercial break. As she shared, “We’re going to go to break, so that I can stay on and keep everybody off my a**.” She added, “We’ll be right back.”

When the episode returned, Whoopi gave an awkward laugh after telling the viewers at home, “Welcome back.” The episode had moved on to another conversation concerning Kristi Noem.
At this time, it’s unclear if Goldberg was just making a joke as the segment simply ran out of time or if she genuinely cut things short. Interestingly, with the episode uploaded to The View‘s YouTube channel, many fans disliked the cut, feeling that the co-hosts should have debated the story more in-depth. Some comments included:
- “What’s the point of debating if Whoopi continues to shut everything down when she doesn’t like it if it gets heated?? So frustrating.”
- “I dislike [it] when Whoopi goes to break just because they are talking over each other. They are, and we are not children. Let people get their full thought out and rebuttal. Ugggg.”
- “Why does Whoopi always cut them off when they start to have an actual debate? Just let them talk.”
