Whoopi Goldberg has had many roles listed on her resume, from stand-up comedian to moderator on The View. However, she can now add a soap opera to her resume. The star even shared her appearance during the long-running talk show.
Viewers Got To See A Brief Clip Of Whoopi Goldberg’s Soap Opera Debut On The View
Goldberg has been part of The View since 2007. However, she’s also had a storied career as an actress, appearing in a number of different television shows and movies.
In fact, Goldberg recently shared a big milestone in her career with viewers on the talk show. She was making her soap opera debut.
Goldberg revealed that she had a “guest part” on the Italian soap opera, Un Posto Al Sole. This long-running series first debuted back in 1996. Set in Naples, it is the first soap opera produced entirely in Italy and revolves around the people of Palazzo Palladini.
In the clip, Goldberg could be seen interacting with a character named Rosa, a housekeeper, who offers her a cup of coffee. During the brief clip, Goldberg is referred to as her character, American entrepreneur, Eleanor Price. Cutting back to the main desk at the show’s New York studio, Goldberg explained that subtitles were added for the Italian audiences as she performed her lines in English.
Goldberg Also Took Time To Touch On Another Italian-Themed Project
Following this, Goldberg added that she attended the premiere of the 2026 film, Solo Mio, which she noted was shot it Rome. She also praised actor Kevin James, who she said was “wonderful and vastly different, I think, than anybody has seen him.”
Goldberg previously discussed appearing on the show on Instagram back in June. At the time, she shared, “I just wanted to stop in and say how happy I am to be joining the cast of Un Posto Al Sole.”
Goldberg continued, “They know it’s a crazy idea, I know it’s a crazy idea, but what a wonderful thing to do. I’m looking forward to it. I’m excited.”
Meanwhile, CN 24 TV recently teased Goldberg’s character’s story arc on the soap. As the outlet shared, a doorman, Raffaele, played by Patrizio Rispo, becomes Eleanor’s guide throughout the city. This will eventually lead to her revealing the true reason she’s in Italy. It has also been teased that Goldberg’s role would be a “recurring” one, meaning she will likely appear in multiple episodes.
