Whoopi Goldberg Refuses To Discuss S*x Offender
During the “Hot Topics” segment of The View, the hosts discuss the day’s current events. Those events are usually about politics. Sometimes the hosts discuss entertainment gossip, much to the chagrin of Whoopi Goldberg. If she doesn’t like a topic, she has a habit of feigning unconsciousness. But she tried a new tactic on Wednesday’s episode when she didn’t like a topic.
She shut down the conversation about a convicted s*x offender and went to commercial to avoid talking about it. A bombshell report by the New York Times in 2017 revealed the long-held Hollywood secret of Harvey Weinstein. Dozens of women came forward with stories of sexual harassment or assault at the hands of the famous producers. The stories went back decades.
The article sparked the #MeToo movement. He was arrested in 2018 and charged in both California and New York in different cases of alleged rape. Harvey Weinstein was convicted in both states but his conviction in New York was overturned. He was convicted again after the retrial.
The disgraced producer is currently housed in New York City’s famous Rikers Island. He recently gave a rare interview to The Hollywood Reporter about the horrible conditions in prison and other topics.
The View briefly touched on Harvey Weinstein being back in the headlines. During the interview, Harvey Weinstein specifically mentioned actress Gwyneth Paltrow. He admitted that he asked her for a massage but nothing else happened after she said no. Sara Haines said, “as if that wasn’t the skeevy part” about Harvey Weinstein asking for a massage in the first place.
Whoopi Goldberg shut the conversation down. “OK, the skeevy part is that we’re talking about him. I don’t want to talk about him anymore today, we’ll be right back,” she said before cutting to commercial.
The View Fans Question What Whoopi Goldberg Knew About His Crimes
Whoopi Goldberg had to address a difficult topic on The View recently. She had to explain why she was in the Epstein files after they were released earlier this year. The Oscar-winning actress never starred in any movies Harvey Weinstein produced. However, they attended the same events over the years.
Fans of the show took to social media to react to Whoopi Goldberg’s refusal to discuss Harvey Weinstein on the show. One viewer created a Reddit thread wondering how much the actress knew about his crimes.
- “I found it uncomfortable how quickly Whoopi wanted to move past Harvey Weinstein. She’s A-list Hollywood. I wonder if she knew what was going on, but was too scared to say something?”
