The View has kept fans informed for nearly 30 years. But the show is about more than just the latest headlines. The hosts share their personal opinions and often, their real lives, with viewers. The ABC talk show has come under fire for constantly bashing the Trump administration. In fact, the FCC recently launched an investigation into The View.
The FCC claims that the show may have broken the “equal time” rule that requires equal time for all politicians, regardless of party affiliation. The hosts seem unbothered by the investigation. In fact, they just celebrated the birth of Alyssa Farah Griffin’s first child. But shortly after the happy news, Whoopi Goldberg revealed a heartbreaking loss in The View family.
Whoopi Goldberg Shares Heartbreaking Family Loss
Whoopi Goldberg took a moment out of the usual Hot Topics segment on Thursday’s episode of The View to share somber news. She let viewers know that an associate director with the show had passed away. Janean Elkins was only 55 when she passed away earlier this month. She was with the show for years.
“We just lost a member of The View family. She was our associate director, Janean Elkins. She was a wonderful, kind, loving soul, and our hearts go out to her family,” Whoopi Goldberg told viewers.

She continued, “And we’ll miss her. She was a big part of this show. She was here for a long time and just really great.”
According to an online obituary, Janean Elkins passed away on February 8. A cause of death wasn’t given, but the family asked donations be made to Endometrial Cancer Research Foundation or Bone Marrow & Cancer Foundation.
The View Fans Send Condolences
The View family suffered another heartbreaking loss late last year when a beloved family member of Brian Teta passed away. Brian Teta is the show’s executive producer and is often seen on camera, interacting with the hosts.
