The Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC) and Circana have revealed the best-selling games in Canada in January and February.

    See below for both lists.

    January

    1. NHL 26 (EA Vancouver/EA)
    2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Treyarch/Raven/Activision)
    3. EA Sports FC 26 (EA Vancouver/EA)
    4. Minecraft (Mojang/Xbox)
    5. Battlefield 6 (Battlefield Studios/EA)
    6. NBA 2K26 (Visual Concepts/2K)
    7. Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar Games)
    8. Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar Games)
    9. Code Vein II (Bandai Namco)
    10. Forza Horizon 5 (Playground Games/Xbox)

It should be noted that nearly half of the list at least partially hails from Canadian teams. NHL 26 and EA Sports FC 26 were both developed by EA Vancouver, while Quebec City-based Beenox assisted with development on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Montreal-based Motive is one of four teams comprising Battlefield Studios that jointly made Battlefield 6. On top of all of that, Rockstar Games has an Oakville, Ont.-based studio that helped out with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s also worth mentioning that, not counting the latest entries in the annualized sports series, Code Vein II is the only new 2025 game to make the list. Otherwise, all of the other games hail from years prior. For context, the Canadian list is almost identical to its U.S. counterpart, with the exception of Code Vein II placing ninth on ours instead of another JRPG, Final Fantasy VII Remake.

    February

    1. Resident Evil Requiem (Capcom)
    2. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (Treyarch/Raven/Activision)
    3. NHL 26 (EA Vancouver/EA)
    4. Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined (Hexadrive/Square Enix)
    5. NBA 2K26 (Visual Concepts/2K)
    6. EA Sports FC 26 (EA Vancouver/EA)
    7. Diablo II: Resurrected (Vicarious Visions/Blizzard)
    8. Battlefield 6 (Battlefield Studios/EA)
    9. Minecraft (Mojang/Xbox)
    10. Helldivers II (Arrowhead/PlayStation)

Overall, February’s list is pretty similar to January’s, with the only major difference being, unsurprisingly, that the hotly anticipated and critically-acclaimed Resident Evil Requiem topped the list. Otherwise, most of the same sports and Rockstar games charted once again. It’s worth noting that the five-year-old Diablo II: Resurrected charted, likely thanks to its new Reign of the Warlock DLC that added a new Warlock class.

What’s perhaps most noteworthy in February, though, was that the Dragon Quest VII remake placed fourth in Canada compared to ninth in the U.S. This is a trend we’ve seen since ESAC started sharing this data in 2023 of JPRGs tending to chart higher in Canada than in the U.S. Instead, Helldivers 2 placed fifth in the U.S., a fair bit higher than it did in Canada.

Looking ahead, March’s list will be interesting to see because both PlayStation and Nintendo released major new games in Marathon and Pokémon Pokopia, respectively. Other high-profile releases in March include Slay the Spire II (early access), MLB The Show 26, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and Life is Strange Reunion.
