The Spurs boss believes he will not face the sack despite losing again in the Premier League

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank says he does not fear being sacked despite failing to win a Premier League game again in 2026.

Spurs slipped ever closer to the relegation battle after being handed a 2-1 loss by Newcastle on Tuesday evening, with Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey stuffing a potential comeback after Archie Gray equalised in the second half.

With West Ham picking up a point against Manchester United on the same night, only five points now separate them and the drop zone.

Despite that, and the fact that Spurs have one just two of their last 17 top-flight games, Frank refused to back down in his post-match interview with TNT Sports.

He said: I think that the players gave everything out there. Newcastle were better than us in the first half but we came back in the second half and equalised.

“After that, there was a missed pass and then they go the other way, we defend bad and go 2-1. We didn’t have enough to come back into the game.

“It’s fair to say we’re a little bit hit by injuries. It’s not a full team in confidence and flow and everything. Newcastle is more well built squad over the last years.

“I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to point at me…”

“We had an opportunity to get something out of the game but we didn’t take it.

“It’s a combination of many things. We had key players out and the confidence is not top so we turn backwards.

“We understand we are not in a top position and we need to do everything we can to get out.”I understand the frustration and the easiest thing is to point at me. That’s part of the job unfortunately. I will work day and night to turn this around but it is not just one person. There is no doubt we need to improve and I need to be part of that.

    ‘I spoke to them yesterday’

Frank also revealed that he spoke with Tottenham’s higher-ups on Monday, and that the conversation was positive, and reinforced his belief that he will remain in charge.

He added:”I spoke to them [owners] yesterday so no. I work very hard and make sure we do everything we can to prepare a team out there that will fight.”

“It’s been better, of course. It hurts massively that we couldn’t get the win today. I see a team running and fighting with everything they have.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club manager Thomas Frank

“They give everything in a tricky and difficult situation. They make it difficult for us. We have a transition one way and then they go the other way, we defend bad and concede the second goal.

“We have players with injuries and a suspension and then another injury after 30 minues 100% does not help. I have never complained, it is what I have available.”

Frank’s injury excuses are unlikely to win him back any support from the Tottenham faithful, who once again made their feelings clear at full-time in North London.

Perhaps the loudest boos yet during his tenure echoed around the 60,000-seater stadium, before Frank himself was heckled on his way down the tunnel.

With so much now at stake and relegation a real threat, it seems incredibly unlikely that the £8million-a-year head coach is allowed to take charge of the North London derby against Arsenal in 12 days.
