Timothée Chalamet was nominated for Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars for his performance in Marty Supreme. While the nominees included acting vets Leonardo DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke, it was a race between Michael B. Jordan and Timothée Chalamet.
Michael B. Jordan took home the award for his dual role in Sinners. Timothée Chalamet lost gracefully, but he reportedly blames his longtime girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, for the loss. Keep reading to find out why.
Timothée Chalamet Blames Kylie Jenner For Oscars Loss
Social media has talked about the “Kardashian curse” for years. Athletes connected to the family routinely lose games or lose status once their relationship with the Kardashian family is revealed. Timothée Chalamet kept his romance with Kylie Jenner under wraps for a while. They made their official debut as a couple at the 2024 Golden Globes. He gave her a shout-out when accepting the Best Actor at the Critics’ Choice Awards in January 2026.
There was major buzz surrounding Timothée Chalamet in the weeks leading up to the Oscars. He was favored to win. But then he made a huge misstep. He insulted the ballet and opera communities with dismissive comments comparing acting to the arts “no one cares about.”
Now, a bombshell report claims that the actor blames his longtime love for losing out on the award. An insider spilled all to Rob Shuter‘s Naughty But Nice Substack.
“Timothée thinks the Kylie relationship hurt his image with older voters. He believes the Kardashian circus cost him the Oscar,” the source claimed. But a second source said that Timothée Chalamet cost himself the Oscar win. “Timothée is incredibly talented. But he’s very difficult,” one Oscar voter told Rob Shuter.

If his Oscar loss caused tension with Kylie Jenner, you wouldn’t know it to look at them. The couple was all smiles at an Oscars after-party. But the Oscars weren’t the only snub allegedly caused by his relationship with Kylie Jenner.
Reportedly Snubbed From Major Event
Timothée Chalamet starred alongside Zendaya in the first two Dune remakes. Part 3 is coming out in later this year. Several of the cast, including Zendaya, made a surprise appearance at a screening of the movie’s trailer in Los Angeles, California. However, the lead actor wasn’t there.
Timothée Chalamet reportedly wasn’t invited. “He’s become a distraction. Every question would have been about the Oscar loss and Kylie — not the movie,” a source told Rob Shuter. The insider added that the actor has become a “liability” due to his romance with Kylie Jenner.
Dune: Part Three hits theaters on December 18, 2026. He has other films in the works, including a sequel to Wonka. Tell us in the comments if you think the “Kardashian curse” is ruining Timothée Chalamet’s career.
