Sheinelle Jones Responds To Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Family Member
Monday was a somber day on the Today Show. News broke hours earlier that Savannah Guthrie’s mother was missing. Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home near Tucson, Arizona, on Saturday, January 31. She was reported missing the next day.
The police are trying to piece together what happened. The cops found blood droplets and the security cameras were missing. A suspect was identified on social media, but law enforcement said it wasn’t verified.
Sheinelle Jones and Jenna Bush Hager addressed the situation on Tuesday’s show. “I’ll just tell you guys behind the scenes…we’re all rattled. We’re all shaken. We all recognize that we have a job to do. But as you guys know, we’re family around here, and it’s not just something that we say. We’ve all been a little rattled,” Sheinelle Jones said. The NYPD reportedly beefed up security at the NBC studios.

Today Host Reveals Next Big Career Step
Days before Savannah Guthrie’s family crisis, Sheinelle Jones shared huge career news on social media. She took to Instagram with an update on her long-awaited book. The Today host revealed back in 2024 that she was working on a collection of stories about motherhood. She took a break from working on the book after her husband’s death in 2025.
“Years ago, I set out to write this book about motherhood and what I’ve learned from women I admire — and you can probably imagine how it felt as my life got turned upside down “while” I was writing it. I poured my heart into this book and I can’t wait to share it with you,” Sheinelle Jones wrote.
Her previous social media post revealed that she sat with the moms of some of today’s biggest stars to get their wisdom and advice. The moms of NBA stars Steph Curry and Shaq take part in the book, as do the mothers of Lady Gaga, and Serena and Venus Williams, among many others.
Sheinelle Jones also talked to her celebrity friends, such as Andy Cohen and Mario Lopez, for stories about their mothers. Through Mom’s Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans hits bookstores on April 14, 2026.
