Today Tightens Security; Is Savannah Guthrie In Danger?
Savannah Guthrie hasn’t been on the Today Show this week amid the family emergency. She also dropped out of covering the 2026 Winter Olympics. The popular host was among the NBC staff scheduled to provide commentary on the Olympics, which kick off in Italy on Friday, February 6th.
Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones reported on the alleged abduction. “We are thinking of our dearest, dearest Savannah and her whole family this morning,” Jenna Bush Hager said during the show, holding back tears. The entire Today family is praying for her mother’s safe return. But is Savannah Guthrie in danger, too? The U.S. Sun reported that NBC beefed up security at the show’s New York City studio after Nancy Guthrie went missing.

“Things are tense at the studio, and that as a result, NBC has stepped up security for on-air talent,” the source said. “NBC has partnered with the NYPD to make sure their staff remains safe, out of an abundance of caution.”
The Arizona police have said that they believe it was an isolated attack and the general public isn’t in danger. However, NBC isn’t taking any chances and added more protection for the staffers.
The FBI has since gotten involved in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. “We’re downloading and analyzing cellphones, obtaining cell tower information, conducting interviews, and providing any and all investigative support that the sheriff’s department needs,” FBI agent Jon Edwards said during a press conference.
At this point, the police are still hoping to find Savannah Guthrie’s mother alive. Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
