NBC’s Today Show has undergone a massive co-host shake-up in the last year. Now, viewers are saying that the show is “better” with one host gone. Keep reading to find out which host they don’t want to see return.
Today Show Deals With Hosting Changes
Hoda Kotb’s exit from the Today Show in January 2025 sparked a series of hosting departures that viewers are still adjusting to today. She has found her new passion and has since moved on to her next venture.
Sheinelle Jones took an extended absence amid her husband’s health battle and cancer. She returned in September, but left the show’s third hour to join Jenna Bush Hager as the co-host of the fourth hour.
Savannah Guthrie began an unexpected break from the show in December. She told viewers that they may have noticed that her voice sounded odd. After going to the doctor, she was told she needed surgery. She underwent vocal cord surgery shortly afterward and has been home recovering.
Savannah Guthrie Reveals Return To Morning Show
She returned to the show recently to update fans on her health. The longtime host is expected to return to Studio 1A in New York City’s Rockefeller Center on January 19. However, that may be far too soon for some faithful viewers.

Viewers Say The Show Is ‘Better’ With Co-Host Gone
After surgery on her vocal cords, Savannah Guthrie had to stay silent for over a month. She’s kept fans updated on her recovery via social media. The Today Show host joked that her kids say she’s just as loud despite not being able to use her voice.

Many viewers of the NBC show left a comment to wish her a speedy recovery and to say that they miss her. However, not everyone felt that way. Several viewers commented that they’ve enjoyed the show without the co-host. One even suggested that the show was “better” without Savannah Guthrie.
- “yeah no rush.. stay home a little longer.. and take jenna with you.”
- “It’s been great since she’s been gone!!”
- “Please keep her off and don’t bring her back. I’ve actually started watching again since she’s been out.”
- “Wouldn’t be bad for her not to come back, then get rid of the loser bush daughter, show might be worth watching again”
- “She’s been missing? Wondered why the show moved along without any annoying interruptions”
- “Don’t come back.”
- “Let’s be honest. The Today Show is much better without her cutting everyone off and actually worth a watch”
Savannah Guthrie joined the Today Show as co-host of the morning program’s third hour in 2011. She replaced Ann Curry on the show’s first two hours in 2012. Furthermore, she will join some of the other hosts to cover the Winter Olympics in Italy next month. Tell us in the comments if you agree that the show is “better” without the longtime host.
