Al Roker Is Known To Many Through His Roles On Today
Roker is a prolific weather presenter who is known for his work on NBC’s Today. He also occasionally co-hosts the show’s third hour.
Starting his career with a CBS affiliate in New York, Roker first joined NBC in 1978 when he worked at Cleveland’s WKYC. In addition to this work on the show, Roker has also shared a lot about his life with fans on social media.
A few days before celebrating Valentine’s Day with his spouse, Deborah Roberts, Roker paid an emotional tribute to his late father, Al Roker, Sr. The post, shared on February 12, was timely, as it would have been the older Roker’s 94th birthday.

In a caption, the weather anchor shared:
- 94 years ago, the man who shaped my life was born. Al Roker, Sr. meant so much to so many. 25 years have passed since he left us and his family still misses him. I am so proud to be his namesake.
Roker included a photo montage in his post, sharing a number of family photos with fans. In addition to Roker’s father, other family members appeared, including Roker’s mother, Isabel, and his two daughters, Courtney and Leila, whom he shared with his late ex-wife, Alice Bell. The video was set to Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father.”
As noted by TV Insider, Roker’s father died in 2001 after a battle with lung cancer. This took place around a year before Roberts and Roker welcomed their son, Nick. As previously noted, Roker has often shared similar tributes to his father in the past, from a post on Father’s Day to remembering him while shoveling snow.
In the comments, a few members of the family also paid their respects. Leila, for example, wrote, “Happy Birthday, Pop Pop,” complete with a heart emoji.
