Todd and Julie Chrisley were unmasked early in the new season of Fox’s The Masked Singer. After their elimination, they opened up about feeling “shame” on the show. Keep reading for all the details on why they felt that way.

Fans Blast Masked Singer For Having Chrisleys On Season 14

The Masked Singer kicked off Season 14 in early January. The first episode featured a double elimination, but the second unmasking took place in the second episode. By then, fans had already guessed that Nashville, Tennessee-based reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley were underneath The Croissants masks. They performed Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” a subtle nod to their time in prison.

The Chrisley Knows Best stars were found guilty of bank fraud, tax evasion, and more charges in 2022. They were sentenced to prison time. However, two years into their sentence, they were released after receiving pardons from President Trump. The couple has been working overtime to rebuild their lives and return to their wealthy status.

Many Masked Singer viewers guessed early on that Todd and Julie Chrisley were competing on the Fox reality show. Viewers expressed frustration all over social media about the casting:

    • “How are ever going to come together as a society if we don’t let multi-multi millionaires get even richer if we let them out of jail and shower them with love and praise?”
    • “They shouldn’t be platforming people like the Crisleys who defrauded the government and stole money. Full stop.”
    • “Kind of a bad call on this one since it basically shows them celebrating their bad choices without remorse.”
    • “The Masked Singer scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Holding prison auditions now?”

After their not-so-shocking elimination, Todd and Julie Chrisley opened up about their brief time on The Masked Singer.

Todd & Julie Chrisley Open Up About ‘Shame’

Todd and Julie Chrisley are reality TV veterans. They starred on USA Network’s Chrisley Knows Best for nearly a decade. After their prison release, they had a brief Lifetime series about their homecoming. The couple’s daughter, Savannah Chrisley, was a contestant on Season 11 of The Masked Singer while fighting for their release.

The Chrisleys opened up about their decision to follow in her footsteps on the Fox reality show. Todd Chrisley explained why they decided to bluntly address their prison stints on The Masked Singer. “Every chapter of our life makes us who we are at that present moment. So, I’m not looking to forget that chapter, because that chapter was 28 months,” he said.

Todd and Julie Chrisley have spoken out about the importance of prison reform since their release. They had their former prison mates in mind during their appearance on The Masked Singer.

“We come out and we shun that? We deny that and we don’t allow that to be part of our story? What is the message that we’re sending to those men and women who don’t have the same opportunities when they’re coming out?” Todd said

He continued, “I don’t want them to have that kind of shame. I don’t want them to feel like they’re beneath anyone else, or that they’re not as good as that person or that they shouldn’t be in that same room with these people.”

What did you think aout their appearance on the show, and were you happy to see them leave? Stay tuned for what’s next for the Chrisleys after leaving the reality competition.
