CBS Evening News anchor Tony Dokoupil has faced a lot of scrutiny since he took on his new position. Now, it appears that his evening hosting gig may also be impacting his marriage. Tony Dokoupil’s Marriage On Rocks
A lot of big changes occurred over at CBS when Bari Weiss became editor-in-chief. She moved things around, and that included taking Tony Dokoupil from day to night. Initially, the newcaster was known for his work on CBS This Morning and CBS Mornings Plus. However, when Maurice DuBois and John Dickerson were out, they needed a good replacement, and Tony’s name was floated around. It was soon confirmed that he would be the new anchor beginning in the new year, 2026.
That has happened, and it has not been without trial and error. Of course, that is to be expected with anything new, but now it appears that his marriage may also be at risk. The Farmington, Connecticut, native has been married to Katy Tur, 42, since 2017. She is a liberal correspondent and journalist who has always supported her husband’s career. However, things have allegedly gone south since he started his nightly position, per an insider, and it could lead to the demise of their relationship:
“Katy is thrilled for Tony – everyone would be. But she’s also nervous. She’s used to being the liberal standard-bearer at MSNOW [formerly MSNBC] and suddenly the media spotlight is focusing on their growing political differences.”
It looks like they have been thrust outward, but for all of the wrong reasons. Moreover, they are under a microscope, one she did not anticipate. At the same time, Tony Dokoupil appears to be doing whatever he needs to in order to get the ratings for CBS.
Can They Make It?
Politics never seemed to matter to Katy Tur and Tony Dokoupil. Rather, they were able to navigate their careers and life together in a positive manner. However, he has seemingly shifted with his new job, and that has caused immense strain, per the insider. They love each other and their careers, but where do they draw the line? The insider went on to add:
“They love each other, but she sees Tony moving in a completely different direction. It’s tough for her to watch – and definitely delicate to navigate.”
As of now, the duo has been keeping quiet regarding their marriage. They share two children plus Tony’s kids from his previous relationship. Hopefully, they can separate work from home to come back to center.
