Tottenham are exploring the possibility of appointing Dougie Freedman as their new sporting director as the club continues its internal restructuring.

Spurs have been without a permanent figure in that role since the departure of Fabio Paratici earlier this year, and the North London side are now assessing candidates to oversee recruitment and long-term squad planning.

Freedman has emerged as a leading option following a successful eight-year spell with Crystal Palace. During his time in South London he played a key role in building the squad, helping to recruit players who later became central figures for the club.

Among the signings made during that period were Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton and goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Freedman left Palace in 2025 and later took up a role with Saudi Arabian side Al-Diriyah, though Tottenham are now considering bringing him back to the Premier League.

The club hope to appoint a sporting director soon so the new figure can play a role in deciding who will become the next permanent manager.

Chelsea sporting director Paul Winstanley and Bournemouth’s president of football operations Tiago Pinto are also believed to be on Spurs’ radar.

Current head coach Igor Tudor is serving in an interim capacity until the end of the season, with uncertainty surrounding his long-term future.

Freedman is not the only candidate under consideration. Tottenham are also believed to be monitoring Paul Winstanley, currently sporting director at Chelsea, as well as Tiago Pinto, president of football operations at Bournemouth.
